Why Hip Drive is Important for Squats
When performing squats with proper technique one of the hardest aspects to master is proper hip drive. For proper hip drive to take place you must remember to drive your hips up from the bottom and don’t raise your chest. By driving up your hips instead of raising your chest you allow the tension of your hamstrings (at the hip end) to assist you in pushing the weight back to the starting position.
When Performing squats with proper technique you must remember to:
- Keep your feet a bit wider then your shoulder width
- Angle your toes out
- Follow your toes with your knees
- Drive from the hips
- Don’t lift your chest
- Don’t Allow your knees to buckle in
