With long work hours and long work outs your diet is a major factor in keeping you energized to get you through your day. Your energy level is affected directly by what nutrients you consume, and also those which you don’t. There are too many crash and fad diets in the market today, so what do when they don’t work? You find yourself back where you started. Here are a few tips on you how you can boost your energy level with the foods you love.

If you find yourself drained of energy and motivation at the end of a work day, chances are you haven’t replenished your body with the nutrients it requires throughout the day. Ways to avoid energy depletion and an unmotivated body are:

What Your Body Needs to get Through the Day

– Start with a big breakfast; don’t be afraid to get a large portion of high calorie foods into your system early. This can actually help to raise your metabolism levels and help you lose weight.

– Replenish your vitamin level to their maximum. Some crucial vitamins and how to get them to restore and maintain good health are:

Vitamin A- Which you can get from eggs, milk, cheese, chicken and liver

Vitamin E- Vegetable oils, whole grains, nuts, and green vegetables.

Vitamin C- Citrus fruits, tomato, green peppers and leafy green vegetables.

Calcium- Dairy products, salmon and leafy green vegetables.

Zinc- Redmeats, eggs, yogurt and whole grain cereals.

For a new age take on the problem try taking some energy supplements such as a caffeine, herbal teas or an energy bars to keep you energized throughout your day.

Keep hydrated; try to take in 2 litres of water a day. By doing this at work it will force you to get up and go to the washroom so you’re not killing your posture from sitting all day.

By following this energy plan you should not feel as depleted after getting home from a long day at work. You should plan ahead of time for which days of the week you want to head over to the gym, but any daily exercise, such as walking or riding a bike to work, is a bonus. Here are a few more examples to keep your body fueled and maintained in great shape.

Foods to Boost Your Workout

Before the gym it’s good to eat a high carb meal, as carbohydrates give you some immediate energy. It’s also good to absorb some protein into your system to give you prevent you from burning out to early into a workout.

-Post workout, take a whey protein shake within 30 minutes for best results. Whey is a fast digesting protein that helps to rebuild the torn muscles. Ideal intake is 30 grams per severing, any more than that and the protein is digested as fat, so be careful not to over do it.

– Try eating at least 5 small meals a day after eating your big breakfast. This can help your body to burn fat more efficiently and keep your metabolism levels at a high throughout the day.

– Stop eating 2 hours before you go to bed, but if you must try for this last meal take in some late night fat burners such as yogurt, bran, or a fat burning supplement.

– Make sure you’re getting enough sleep! Your body needs at least 7 and no more than 9 hours of sleep to stay fresh. Try getting to bed a little earlier and note the difference in your energy level throughout the day.

Remember, a healthy body is only as healthy as you treat it. A balanced diet combined with a regular exercise routine and a good amount of rest will result not only in a more productive and fit lifestyle, but you will find yourself with more energy to accomplish more in your day. Set a plan and stick with it, regularity and devotion are the keys to success. Good luck!
