The Benefits of Strong Abs

Submitted by on November 13, 2008 – 7:28 pmNo Comment

Yes, a killer six pack will make you a little more popular with the ladies, but from your perspective strong abs can reduce lower back pain, create a better posture and even protect you from disease.

How Abs Help Your Posture

A tight core and a lower back will automatically straighten up your back giving you a taller posture and will help you to avoid back pain. Most back pain is caused from sitting at a desk all day with very little movement and bad posture. Here are some ways to avoid lower back pain while at work.

  • Take as many breaks as you can to get up and walk around, bathroom, coffee, or just to go out and get some fresh air for 5 minutes will help.
  • Sit up straight, don’t lean on your desk with a hunched back. Stick you chest up and you shoulders back, this will give you a more natural and much better posture.
  • Buy a decent chair for you desk, a good chair will make you more comfortable while in a good position and keep you from slouching.
  • A strong set of abs will better balance your body, distribute body weight and take the pressure off your lower joints such as your hips and knees.

What Getting Strong Abs Will Do

By going to the gym and working out your abdominal you will also be burning calories and reducing you bodies fat content. With less fat on your waist line this will drastically reduce the odds of suffering thought diabetes, coronary heart disease and hyperextension in your lower and upper back. Also by building a strong mid section you will gain more balance in turn giving you more power at the gym.
There are many fad programs that say how to get that rip wash board abs in a simple 10 minutes work out once a day. The only real way to get a strong core and a sculpted set of abs is to get steady work out routine and a great diet. Check some of Men’s Garages work out plans to get you started down the right track to overall fitness and a healthy living.
