Daunte Culpepper Signs With Detriot
After a long hiatus from football former monster QB Daunte Culpepper has decided to make a comeback and play with the Detroit Lions. The 2 year deal is in the middle of being finalized pending Culpepper can pass his physical, sources say that the deal can be completed any day now.
The lions are the NFL`s worst team yet again, this year starting the season off a stunning 0-8 and having backup QB Dan Orlovsky take over for the injured Jon Kitna who in my mind should never have started for any franchise outside the CFL.
Culpepper had this to say about the new deal with the Lions
As a result of doing some research on different places to play, the Detroit Lions seemed to be the best fit for me, I am encouraged by the commitment of ownership, the vision of management and the great potential of the talent that is on the team.
The 31 year old first round pick back in 1999 for the Vikings has been to 3 pro bowls and a few years back when he was with Randy Moss had one of the most dangerous duo`s in the league. Over his 9 seasons in the NFL he has completed 64% of his passes and thrown for 142 TD`s, while running for another 33.
He decided to leave football after a nagging Knee injury kept him from playing healthy and getting no interest from any teams in the league.
The Lions don’t have that bad of a team on paper, just terrible management and ownership. So look for Daunte to actually make a difference with this team and maybe next year bring them close to going 8-8. All I know is that he cant be worse then Jon Kitna.
