UFC 87 fight previews by Men’s Garage

On Saturday, August 9th, live from Minneapolis, MN it is the welter weight title fight we have all been looking forward to. George “Rush” St.Pierre takes on the number one contender Jon Fitch.
I can’t remember the last time I was so pumped for a great fight like this one, its been a while since GSP has fought someone I thought would give him some trouble. No offence to Matt Serra but he was just outclassed and tossed around like a chew toy, and before that Matt Hughes- who was also man handled and getting a little to old to compete with the young guns in the UFC. But Jon Fitch is a legit opponent for GSP.
Jon Fitch
With a stellar MMA record of 21-2 including victories over fighters such as Diego Sanchez, Josh Burkman and Thiago Alves, Fitch is a un-doubtably the number one contender. He got into MMA while wrestling at Purdue University and decided to make money from fighting instead of getting a job in the real world, and has been doing so ever since.
Fitch is a wrestler witha very strong ground game, with 7 of his 21 victories coming by submission. He has a solid chin and is very quick on his feet, look for himto try and stand with GSP at first, but if that isn’t working out he might try to take the fight to St. Pierres back and look to tap him out.
Georges St. Pierre
Fighting out of Montreal, QC, GSP is Canada’s greatest resource without a doubt! He has incredible stregth and conditioning along with a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As if that wasn’t enough he has also been training with the Canadian Olympic wrestling team and believes he could go to Beijing and bring back a medal. GSP has faught and beat quality fighters including:
He believes that he is stronger is all the aspects of MMA the Jon fitch is, and that no matter where the fight goes he will take control and finish it.
The Winner?
I believe that GSP will take this fight in either the first or second round. He’s just a physically stronger fighter then Jon Fitch is, take a look at some of the previous fights that GSP was in, he out wrestled Josh Koscheck, taped Matt Hughes like he was a kid, and just made Matt Serra look like an old lady trying to protect her purse from muggers. I honestly dont see St.Pierre losing a fight, unless he goes up to 185lbs and takes on Anderson Silva (which is rumored to happen)
This is going to be a great fight card with preliminary fights including
Brock Lesner Vs Heath Hearing
Kenny Florian VS Roger Huerta
So it will definitely be worth purchasing on PPV or going out to a bar to watch with your buddies. But always remember with MMA nothing is for certain. Just take a look at the video below and you will remember what im talking about.
Enjoy the fights everyone.
