UFC Title Holders
2008 is over and the new year is looking ripe with tons of talent now in the UFC. Dana White has been doing a great job recruiting fighters who put it all on the line each and every fight, with ratings at an all time high the UFC title holders are some of the best in the world. Take a look who is owning the division and up-coming challengers;
Lightweight - 145lbs - 155lbs
B.J Penn - Nicknamed the prodigy, he has finally started to show his full potential in the last 2 years with victories over Sean Sherk and Joe Steveson while defending his belt. Penn has a massive fight coming Jan 31 against GSP who is the welter weight title holder.
Possible contenders for his title: Joe Lauzon, Mac Danzig and hopefully soon Urijah Faber.
Welterweight - 155lbs - 170lbs
Georges St-Pierre - A candidate for one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, GSP has been dominant in the 170lb weight class. Other then the random knockout lose to Matt Serra, GSP has taken on and beat Matt Hughes, Frank Trigg, Sean Serk, Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch all of who could easily be the champ of the division. His next fight comes against B.J Penn where he will look to beat him for the second time of his career.
Possible contenders for his title: Thiago Alves, Ben Saunders, Mike Swick
Middleweight - 170lbs - 185lbs
Anderson Silva - What can you say about Anderson Silva that you haven’t heard a million times before? Seems to be un-beatable and is now just looking for any type of challenge. He has fought in the 205 weight class in the same month as 185lb and won both matches in under 3 minutes. He has crazy kicks and dangerous knee’s and no one is more accurate with punches. The only question remaining is who can give Silva any kind of a test?
Possible contenders for his title: Dan Henderson, Demian Maia, Michael Bisping (not much of a chance)
Light Heavyweight - 185lbs - 205lbs
Rashad Evans - This is a tough division to be the champ because a lot of people can add or cut weight to get in, so being the champ for any amount of time is a great accomplish. Evans has had a great UFC career thus far and with each fight seems to be getting better and better. Hopefully even with the title he still yearns to be the best and train for each fight like it might be his last.
Possible contenders for his title: Quinton “rampage” Jackson, Thiago Silva, Lyoto Machida
Heavyweight - 205lbs - 265lbs
Brock Lesner - One time WWE superstar now legit UFC champ, Lesner is no joke in this league and if you disagree with that just watch the couture fight. With fast speed, ridiculous strength and a training camp in the woods where no map can find Lesnar will be the champ for a good long time. I can’t see him getting knocked out even if the opponent has a crow bar and the chances he will get caught in another submission like Mir did in his first UFC bout will not likely happen again. So take a seat and enjoy the ride of Brock being the champ and tossing people around like a salad.
Possible contenders for his title: The only person that has a chance is Fedor Emelianenko
