The new XVT Series from Vizio are an awesome choice for all the criteria's you listed above. The XVY's have 1080p, Full High Definition LCD, 42", 47" and 50", and the best part is the new 120Hz. It really makes a difference watching sports, or anything for that matter. It really brings the true colors out and you can really see the difference. I bought the SV420 42" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV from Costco and I'm definitely happy with my choice. I agree with Coast…sports lovers need a good HDtv.
